Diamond People touring exhibition

Earlier this year I was commissioned by the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority to take portrait photos of some of the great people who have made a difference in the Brecon Beacons. This was part of the national park’s 60th anniversary celebrations.

Working on this project has introduced me to breathtaking parts of the Beacons I never knew existed, and also to some of the truly brilliant people who live and work there. I’ve photographed Gurkhas, a sheep farmer, a helicopter pilot, a lock keeper, a moth expert, a castle owner and a Paralympic gold medalist. I’ve been in caves, on top of mountains, next to waterfalls, round a distillery and into a smokery. I’ve waded through mud, rivers, and sheep. I’ve been terrified of very friendly Highland cattle, cute lambs, and massive deer with massive antlers. I’ve been face to face with a mountain rescue dog and shared belly laughs with a holiday cottage owner. Everyone I met has been a pure joy to work with, and I learnt so much from each one of them.

The exhibition opened yesterday (4th July) with a launch and private view at Brecon Library where it will be on display until 28th August. Then the exhibition is touring around the Beacons for the next six months or so. Please do go and take a look if you have a chance! There are a few photos below, but many more to see at the exhibition
